Aurora PhotoArts Tampa Photography and Design actually cares. We care about you, we care about models, and we care about the integrity and the marketability of the careers of the models who we work with. This is why we have spent years investing in some of the top modeling resource sites in the world, such as Tampa Bay Modeling and Independent Modeling, to help models at no charge whenever we can. This said, although we can not offer any photography or design services at no charge, as we are a business, we do offer services of an unbeatable value in the Tampa Bay photography and design services market. Our modeling portfolio photography services are the top value for professional and aspiring models alike, and our model testing services are also the top value in the market for anyone who wants to get started in modeling.
Warning: Pictures cannot be undone.
Once you have them taken, and they get out there, no one can undo them, or take
them away. Pictures are permanent! This is why any photography has to be taken
seriously, and photography demands the utmost respect, as well as education.
Modeling, likewise, also has to be taken seriously. You OWE IT TO YOURSELF to
learn everything that you can about modeling BEFORE you consider getting your
portfolio done or attempt to start modeling. There is no excuse, either, because
we have free information available online, right now, at Tampa Bay Modeling
and on Independent Modeling. The only way to eliminate risk entirely is simply
not do model, but armed with information, you can model with minimum risk to
yourself, and to your modeling career.
Swimsuit modeling can be high-risk modeling, and it can limit your modeling
career and the ability to book modeling jobs. When considering any swimsuit
modeling photography, or posing in bikinis, please make sure that you know all
of the angles in the modeling industry. Also, make sure that the photographer
know what they are doing, how to make you look sexy without making you pose
too provocatively, and that the pictures can not be easily taken out of context
and used to degrade you.
If you are a teenage model, and you are under the age of 18, we strongly recommend
AGAINST modeling in swimsuits. If this is something that you want to do, talk
to your parents about it. There are a lot of teen modeling sites which, while
they pay their models, the teen model makes money because they are being exploited.
This is wrong, and it is a practice which we do not agree with. Just because
you are getting paid does not make it right, and does not make it a real modeling
job.
Modeling is a professional career. It is not therapy for self-esteem issues.
If you have a self image problem, and feel that you need to pose sexy in pictures
to make you feel better about yourself, please DON’T try to model. Seek
out a licensed, qualified therapist. Address, and resolve, and issues that you
have before you try to model. Modeling is only for people with confidence, and
the more that you know about what you are doing in this industry, the better
that you will do! If you model with a professional frame of mind, treating it
as a professional career, you will do fine in modeling.
Our modeling industry experience gives our Tampa swimsuit photography services an advantage
Since 1998, when Aurora PhotoArts
Tampa Photography and Design began working with models on modeling photography
projects, and since 2000, when Aurora PhotoArts began professional work with
modeling portfolio photography and model testing, we have an advantage of not
only working with professional models and in setting standards in modeling photography
for the Tampa Bay area, but in specializing in photography of people.
Aurora PhotoArts’s Tampa swimsuit photography has the advantage of our
professional modeling photography experience. First, however, is a story about
why we currently do not have a lot of swimsuit modeling photographs in our portfolio.
When we began working with models back in 1998, we did do some swimsuit modeling
photography, but we soon got away with that. The reason is that, as time went
on, we began booking more and more modeling portfolio work with parents who
wanted to get their teenage daughters into modeling, and swimsuit modeling,
in our opinion, would have been tacky and inappropriate for underage models.
The same goes for glamour and boudoir modeling photography, which had no business
being done with the age range of our clientele.
In modeling, the shelf life of the average model is not long. A highly perishable
career, most models have to get started in their teens and in their early teens,
the career of the average model usually only lasts ten years, at the most, unless
they transition to lifestyle modeling or some king of modeling which older models
can do. With most models starting at the age of 14 or 15, they can usually only
expect to have a career for 15 to 16 years.
Swimsuit modeling, and other types of modeling best suited for adults, are high-risk
modeling, and they not only have no place in the portfolio of an underage model,
but adult models often find that such work can limit the marketability of their
modeling careers.
With models over the age of 18, we ran into other issues. One issue which had
us concerned is that swimsuit modeling photography can be easily taken out of
context and used for other things. There was a swimsuit modeling photographer
in the Tampa Bay area, for example, who would shoot models in skimpy bikinis
and in provocative poses, and the models would be fine with this, as they saw
nothing wrong with it. It’s not like that they were modeling without their
clothes, they rationalized, so they couldn’t see what the risk was, or
how it could be like more blatant high-risk modeling. Of course, the swimsuit
photographer was unethical, and he sold those swimsuit pictures to adult entertainment
companies, and the pictures were used to advertise services which the model
would have never agreed to (and, there was more than one photographer doing
this, too. Such nice guys!). The models, having signed releases which permitted
the photographer to do this, had little recourse. On some occasions, the photographer
sold the pictures without releases, and the models still have little recourse
because they could not afford to take legal action. It didn’t matter,
though, because the pictures were out there, and what was done could not be
undone.
Another photographer on the east coast of Florida made his name by taking pictures
of models wearing swimsuits and skimpy bikinis. The models also posed in highly
provocative poses, and they were shocked to discover that “sexy”
modeling pictures like that not only defined who they were in their modeling
careers, but it limited the modeling jobs that they could book. Could you imagine
how these models felt when models with more conservative, professional portfolios
were booking the catalog and print modeling jobs that they wanted, while they
did not?
Because Aurora PhotoArts specialized in professional modeling portfolios which
made our model clients as marketable as possible, we purposely stayed away from
swimsuit, glamour, boudoir, and high-risk types of modeling photography. We
also did not feel comfortable taking any pictures of models which could be easily
taken out of context and used to make the models look bad.
New Mosaic Class photography marketing and support web site is in development, and will be online in the summer of 2012.
